More Drama Over Suspended Imo LGA Chairmen

*Plot In Top Gear To Recall Them*

*Council Bosses Stay Put In Office Despite Vacate Order*

Barely few days Local Government Chairmen in Imo State were suspended by members of Imo State House of Assembly, reports reaching this newspaper indicate that there are plans to recall them before the May 29, 2019 handover date.

The sack of the Chairmen had divided the lawmakers as there are underground moves to restore them in office.

A top source in the Assembly said their suspension had polarized members of the House who had engaged in a heated debate during plenary last Thursday.

The lawmakers had suspended the Council bosses during plenary citing allegations bordering on alleged financial misconduct on the part of the Council bosses whose future looks uncertain as a new administration comes on board on May 29, 2019. They were ordered to handover affairs of the Council to their Deputies.

The Chairmen had incurred the wrath of the lawmakers who had summoned them several times.

They never showed up and when they did, they were told to come with their Directors of Administration and General Services, DAGS and Treasures of the Council. They never complied with the directives.

Another source said that the suspension of the Chairmen was part of hi wire political intrigues ongoing in the dying days of the outgoing Rochas Okorocha administration.

An unverified report that said some of the lawmakers wanted to use it as bait to get Governor Rochas Okorocha to comply with their several demands before they leave office on May 29 including payment of their severance allowances. This could not be independently verified as at press time.

This is as indications emerged that most of the Council Chairmen were yet to vacate their offices as instructed by the House members.
