The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in the March 9 2019 guber election in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, may emerge a member of the Board of Trustees, BOT of the party.

APGA had at its last National Executive Council, NEC, removed Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano and Bianca Ojukwu, as members of the party’s BOT. It also dissolved the Board

The party also announced new dates for fresh congresses from the ward to the state levels. Its National Convention is expected to hold on May 31, 2019 preceding appointment of BOT members whose membership are expected to be ratified at the Convention.

The move is said to be aimed at re energizing the party in the South East region ahead of 2023.

Senator Araraume’s Destiny Organization is also said to have taken full control of the party in Imo State and will completely take over during and after the congresses.

A top party chieftain of the party who spoke on condition of anonymity said  there are clear indications that members of the Senator’s Destiny Organization will “ inherit whatever is left of APGA in the State”.

He said “ members of the Senator’s political group dominated the newly constituted Caretaker Committee and there are clear indications it will be so after the congresses

Senator Araraume joined APGA after internal strife in the All Progressive Congress, APC forced him out of the party before the governorship election.

He placed third in the contest and has gone to court to challenge the declaration of Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as winner of the governorship election in Imo State.
