Money, the root of all evil has been fingered as the genesis of the turbulence that rocked the Imo State House of Assembly last week.

For the first time after eight years of docility under the Rochas Okorocha Administration, members of Imo State House of Assembly went for each othersĀ  jugular. What was termed as waking up from slumber turned out to be a fierce altercations centred around monies said to have been enjoyed by some while others did not.

This sparked the “rebellion” against the Speaker, Acho Ihim by a group led by Hon.Chinedu Offor, the arrowhead of the aggrieved lawmakers who were sidelined from the booty.

Now the Offor Group who suspended the Speaker and the Majority Leader, Lugard Osuji, announced a new leadership in interim capacity which he Offor leads.

The Offor Group is now advancing it’s onslaught after seemingly getting the Speaker out of the way.

Governor Rochas Okorocha is now on their radar of the aggrieved lawmakers who have reportedly kicked against a N100 billion naria request made by the Executive and tagged as “Authority To Incur Expenditure” This old deed have set the stage to re open fresh wounds.

However, a retreat seem to be in the offing with a deal said to have been done to allow the Speaker to stay afloat until the tenure of the present administration runs off on May 29.

In the ensuing drama in the House, Hon.Chika Madumere was named as new Deputy Speaker after the exit of Hon.Ugonna Ozuruigbo who was elected to represent Nwangele/Njaba/Isu/Nkwerre Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
