Some Local Government Chairmen and Councillors in Imo State stormed the premises of the Imo State House of Assembly, Monday
They alleged of plans by the members of the State Assembly to sack them.
This newspaper had reported that the fate of the Council bosses hung in the balance when a new administration led by Hon.Emeka Ihedioha took over as Governor on May 29.
Immediate past Governor of the State, Rochas Okorocha had on assumption of office in May 2011 sacked elected Local Government Chairmen and Councillors.
Despite several court orders to reverse his decision and reinstate the Chairmen, he refused.
For fear of such fate befallen them, the present Chairmen and Councillors and their supporters stormed the Assembly Complex but were prevented from gaining access into the premises by a detachment of policemen deployed to the Complex to prevent breakdown of law and order.
Some of the Chairmen who spoke to our reporter said they got information that the lawmakers wanted to announce their sack any money from now.
One of them who spoke on condition of anonymity said they heard reports of the lawmakers intention and decided to storm the House.
