Water supply will soon be restored in Owerri metropolis and environ as Imo State Governor, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, has approved the sum of N49 million naria to the Imo State Water Corporation to generate water supply in the city including Government House within five weeks.
Speaking at a crucial meeting with the Head of Service, Heads of Parastatals and Heads of Agencies at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Owerri, on Tuesday after the Swearing- in of the Secretary to the Imo State Government and Chief of Staff, the Governor after hearing briefs and responses from Heads of Parastatals and Agencies, assured that the State Government will work with them to build the State positively to end suffering and hardship.
The Governor was bitter that there are many problems facing the state which were ignored by the immediate past administration, vowing that Agriculture, Water, Sports, ISOPADEC, Education, Health, Civil service, Pensions and salaries, etc, will first be critically looked into, to hit the ground running.
“It is even shameful that Government House does not have public water. We shall fix the water problem within Owerri, review the free education programme so that we know where to take off, dig into pensions and salaries, revamp agriculture, restore environmental sanitation, sports, Adapalm, Imo rubber estate, looking into ISOPADED and others to make Imo the joy of all”.
The Governor directed some of the Heads of the Parastatals and Agencies to discuss further with the Deputy Governor and the Secretary to the State Government on the way forward.
While urging them to always discard favouritism in order to achieve set goals, Ihedioha requested them to remain courageous, sincere, committed and determined as they discharge their respective assigned duties effectively.
