Following a bloody Cult Clash between two rivalry Cult groups in Onueke in Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi State which has claimed more than three lives and other Cult activities raging in the State, the Ebonyi State Police command has arrested more than forty suspected cultists who allegedly are terrorising the state.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen in Abakaliki, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ebonyi State command, DSP Loveth Odah said the command is doing everything possible to rid the state of cultism.

According to her, “when it comes to crime rate, Ebonyi record low in Nigeria as a federation. But this cult related activities is what is disturbing us here. All the arrest we have made, they are more than forty and so many of them are being charged to court.

“If you go to the prisons, you see so many of them that are young who suppose to be outside here preparing their ways with stakeholders in leadership on how to takeover from them when the time comes.

“We need attitudinal change. The greatest problem is that, these cultists have continued to brainwash the young boys,” she stated.

Recall that three persons were killed in fresh cult war in Onueke over the weekend

In the latest killings, a 42-year-old man who was working at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Ifeanyi Alegu aka Don Bruno, was shot dead on Sunday at Onueke motor Park while eating.

Alegu hailed from Ezzama, Ezza South Local Government Aarea. There have been cult killings in Ezza South and its neighbouring Ezza North in recent past.

Alegu’s killing forced a rival cult group to kill two persons on Monday.

Alegu had gone to eat at a joint in Onueke Park, not knowing he was been trailed.

His killers surfaced at the eatery and shot him in the head. He died on the spot.
But while the dust over his killing was yet to settle,  another man, Martins Igwe Nwagu, of Ezza North Local Government Area was murdered by some gang suspected to be rival Cult group.
