After being shut out from assuming top positions in the Senate where Senator Ahmed Lawan and Senator Omo Agege emerged Senate President and Deputy respectively, some South East Senators have joined the scramble for other principal positions in the Senate.

The ruling All Progressive Congress, APC which had come under sharp criticisms for not considering the South East for any of the top positions, may bulge to conceding to the South East with the position of Senate Leader Other Chief Whip.

This is not conclusive though as Senators from North Central are said to be interested in the slot as well.

Though the APC was commended for ensuring its party men clinched the key position, it also received knocks for not reflecting the federal character and geographical spread as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.

The zoning of the Speakership position to the South West was faulted since the office of the Vice President is in the kitty of the region.

However after the election of Senate President, Deputy, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Deputy Speaker, 16 other principal positions both in the senate and House of Representatives are up for grabs.

Former Abia State Governor, Dr.Orji Uzor Kalu, is speculated to be in the race for Senate Leader after dumping his Deputy Senate President bid in line with the party’s zoning of the position to the South South.

This newspaper was informed that the leadership of the party will meet soon to decide on who gets what in both chambers of the National Assembly.

It was gathered that in the House of Reps, the South East may be in the running for the position of Chief Whip.
