The deal that led to the emergence of a new Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon.Chiji Collins, has emerged.
Collins is a die hard follower and political son of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in the governorship election.
Hon. Collins had defected to the PDP from APGA and two days later, he emerged Speaker of the House of Assembly.
This newspaper was informed that a deal may have been struck between Governor Emeka Ihedioha and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume prior to the emergence of Hon.Chiji Collins as Speaker of the 9th Assembly.
Terms of the deal are unknown but it was unclear if the Senator will drop his litigation at the Elections Petition Tribunal against the victory of Ihedioha at the governorship election.
Collins was nominated by the member representing Ehime Mbano State Constituency, Hon.Lawman Duruji of the Action Alliance (AA) and seconded by the member representing Obowo State Constituency, Hon.Kennedy Ibe, also of the AA.
Duruji and Ibe however announced their defection to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP shrinking the number of AA members in the House to six.
Governor Ihedioha has continuously assured of running an inclusive government.
