Local Government elections in Imo State will hold in six months time.
This was revealed by Imo State Governor, Hon.Emeka Ihedioha when he inaugurated an Interim Management Committee of the 27 local governments.
“We shall, within six months conduct elections into Local Government Councils in our State” he said.
He said the activities of the past local governments administration will be looked into.
” With the request of the House of Assembly, we shall set up an audit panel to investigate the activities of the immediate past local government administration, this we shall do in keeping to the provisions of the law” he said.
He urged the Interim Management Committee of the local governments not to fail to live up to expectation by working closely with traditional rulers in their domain
” The House of Assembly as enshrined in our Constitution would perform oversight function over the administration of the local governments, I would therefore advise you to co operate fully with the House of Assembly to ensure that our goal of democratic governance is attained”
