Nwosu challenged the results of the polls at the Election Petition Tribunal which on Monday granted the request of the party that it is no longer interested in the matter.
In recent times, strange political drama had been playing out in the Action Alliance. Nwosu’s Deputy Governorship candidate and former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Acho Ihim suddenly decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
What followed thereafter was a major turmoil in the party when the National Chairman, Kenneth Udeze announced the party’s withdrawal from the ongoing matter at the Election Petition Tribunal.
Ihim, the former Speaker of the House had said there is an end to litigation.
*NWOSU REACTS*
Reacting to the issue, Uche Nwosu, in a statement signed by his aide on Media, FCC Onwusoanya Jones described the decision of the tribunal as disappointing. He said there is no cause for alarm
Part of the statement reads “As disappointing as this decision is, especially, when weighed on the fact that the particular faction who filed this application had been disowned by majority of the Party’s National Working Committee, we wish to assure all supporters of good governance, advocates of justice and all believers in the Ugwumba Uche Nwosu mandate that there is absolutely no cause for alarm, as this judgement has in no way vitiated our credible contention that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu was the undisputed winner of that election, and we expect the learned justices to serve justice by declaring him the winner of that election”
