An Owerri High Court has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,not to depart from its stand by not issuing a Certificate of Return to Rochas Okorocha as Senator Elect for Imo West Senatorial District.
The order was made by Justice N.B Ukoha dated June 11, 2019.
It would be recalled that Justice Okon Abang of Abuja Federal High Court had ordered INEC to release Okorocha’s certificate of Return to him.
INEC in its response said it is worried on the order as it does not intend to reward bad behaviour.
INEC top officials are meeting today to further deliberate on the matter.
Okorocha was reportedly denied access into the National Assembly chambers venue of the inuguration and election of principal officers of the 9th Senate.
