Discordant tunes from the State and National leadership of the Action Alliance, AA, continued on Monday shortly after the Imo State Election Petition Tribunal’s granted the prayer of the National leadership of the party to withdraw Nwosu’s suit challenging the victory of Emeka Ihedioha as Governor of Imo State.

Justice Matthew Adewara had ruled on the Application brought by the National leadership of the Action Alliance, which alleged that their party was not consulted in the said petition by Nwosu before approaching the Tribunal.

Two officials in the party though on opposite sides gave different perspectives of the ruling which signifies deeper crack in the Action Alliance, AA where Nwosu had anchored his hopes of either a run off or cancellation of the governorship election in the State.

State Chairman of the party, Chief Uchendu Ajaelu said it’s governorship candidate in the 2019 election, Uche Nwosu will continue to pray against the election of Governor Ihedioha.

But Counsel to the Action Alliance, AA, Chief Okey Ehieze who seem to be representing the interests of the national Body, rather commended the Tribunal for granting the request of the party on the basis that AA was a signatory to a pact with other political parties in the State to support any candidate duly elected during the governorship election.

He said the AA was not ready to go into a run off election.

Before Monday’s ruling, the AA had been entangled in fierce political altercations over the tenure of Mr.Kenneth Udeze as national chairman of the party.

Nwosu’s running mate and former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Acho Ihim, had decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
