There is fresh lobbying for Commissioner positions in Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s government in Imo State.
Party chieftains including high profile party chieftains have intensified extensive lobby to grab one position or the other in the new administration.
With the appointment of Special Advisers and Commitees almost done, attention is said to have shifted to the appointment of new Commissioners.
No reason has been adduced for the delay in the appointments, but a reliable source said the Governor is positively disposed to appoint round pegs in round holes and intends to make use of professionals, experts and intellectuals for various positions.
There is also consideration to reduce the over bloated number of Ministries which may lead to merging some of them and in some cases outright scrapping.
A top level source who is in the know of ongoing lobbying told this newspaper that there is serious consideration to have Ministries and commissioners who are in line with the core objectives of the Rebuild Imo agenda of the Governor.
” Commissioners will be appointed. But emphasis will be more on bringing in experts for various ministries.
“Party chieftains are not relegated to the background but if you must have observed a lot of them were acomodated as SAs, and in various Commitees
“The ministries and agencies are driving forces of the agenda of the new administration and that is why so much time is best expended to get the best. A case of round pegs in round holes.
The source did not rule out pressure coming from top party leaders but there is also consideration that the best is needed in these ministries to complement the efforts of the Governor to take Imo State to the next level.
” As you can see, the government is proactive and we are on track. We do not need a dislocation in the ryhthm the present Government is moving.
Asked when the list will be released, the source who does not want his name on print, simply responded “soon”
