Ohakim Gives Reasons Why He Is Not Afraid Of Probe

by admin

Former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim, has said he is not afraid of any probe by the present administration of Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State.

Governor Ihedioha had last week instituted a Judicial Panel of Inquiry to probe land deals in the State from 2006 to 2019 covering the period Achike Udenwa, Ikedi Ohakim and Rochas Okorocha were Governors of the State.

He had also set up a probe panel to investigate award of contracts from 2006 to 2015.

Ohakim was quoted by the Punch newspaper to have said that “anyone with nothing to hide should welcome the idea of a probe.

He said it would be irrelevant and a waste of time probing the Chief Achike Udenwa regime “but very logical to probe my administration as well as that of my successor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

” For me, it shows there is no witch-hunt and it’s just the government trying to set the record straight and understand where to work from as far as land matters are concerned in Imo State.

” I have repeatedly challenged my accusers to show me any plot of land I allocated to myself while serving as Governor. I still live in a three bedroom bungalow which I had as a commissioner during the era of the late Chief Evan Enwerem in 1993

Ohakim said the Ihedioha probe panel is a response to calls from many corners of the State to investigate all of land grabbing to individuals by the immediate past administration in the State.

“I would make myself available to the probe panel should it require my presence. The probe will help the State.
