Royal Rumble Continues In Imo, Monarchs Turn Heat On Eze Ohiri

The end to ongoing rumbling in Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers is not in sight.

Barely few days Chairman of the Council, Eze Sam Ohiri made a dramatic u turn by calling for the probe of former Governor Rochas Okorocha, some traditional rulers have demanded for his immediate sack.

They drummed support for Ohiri’s foe, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya whom they are drumming support for his reinstatement.

Ilomuanya and Ohiri have been cat and mouse over the Chairmanship of the State Council of Traditional Rulers.

Some of the traditional rulers met recently where a communique was issued and read by Eze Anayo Durueburuo at the close of their meeting in Owerri.

They expressed their gratitude to the Governor for reversing the dethronement and suspension of some of their colleagues as well as fulfilling his promise of paying the allowances of those suspended or dethroned by Okorocha.

They however made it clear that “Ohiri’s Chairmanship remains an illegal contraption” insisting that the Governor should dissolve his leadership of the Council.

The monarchs implored the governor to comply with several court judgements including that of the Supreme Court and reinstate Eze (Dr )Cletus Ilomuanya as Chairman in line with rule of law mantra of the Rebuild Agenda of the Ihedioha’s administration. They insisted that Ilomuanya’s chairmanship is the gate way to restoring confidence and the dignity of the traditional institution which Ohiri and Okorocha desecrated.

While condemning in totality, the recent rascailty and inciting utterances of Okorocha, the monarchs called for an intensified effort at probing the former governor .

According to them, Okorocha must be made to face the consequences of his inhuman actions while in office as governor, stressing that the former governor destroyed virtually all institutions of governance in the State including the traditional institution.

The monarchs called on Imo people to lend their total support to Governor Ihedioha whom they described as “a Governor whose word is his bond. “

They contended that Imo traditional rulers have resolved to stand by the governor because he has been proven that he means well for Imo and is very sincere in his dealings with the people unlike Okorocha who regarded deceit as a virtue.
