The Imo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, sat on Wednesday and Thursday in Owerri where a major leap took place over petitions filed against the Peoples Democratic Party by candidates of contending political parties such as the All Progressive Congress, APC, the Action Alliance, and the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA over the March 9, 2019 governorship election.

Highlight of Wednesday proceedings

Proceedings continued on cases filed by aggrieved parties on the governorship election in Imo State held on March 9, 2019.

The Court apparently dissatisfied with the influx of supporters of those involved in the matter directed that such supporters of various political parties not to enter the court rooms.

It has become a regular occurrence for candidates of parties to mobilize supporters which makes the court premises chaotic during proceedings.

No reason was given for the new directive but it was gathered that it may be to restore sanity within the Court premises to avoid chaos as judgement day draws close.

Thursday Proceesings

On Thursday, the PDP and INEC closed their defence. After reviewing the evidence given by Senator Hope Uzodinma and witnesses, the ruling party in the State did not call for further witness.

The PDP did not call witness just as an INEC official under sopena disowned pink copies one of the candidates had tendered.

Adoption of addresses will take place on September 8 paving the way for judgement day.
