Imo Amalgamation, Olu Owerri Give Verdict On Ihedioha’s 100 Days In Office

As the present administration of Governor Emeka Ihedioha clocks 100 days in office,several groups in State have given the Governor kudos and thumbs up.

In separate statements, the groups hailed the Imo Governor for the giant strides he has recorded so far in office.

OLU OWERRI: Imo Back On Track.

A sociocultural organization in Imo State, Olu Owerri has rated the one hundred days of Chief Emeka Ihedioha’s governorship high, insisting that the foundations of the State which was demolished by the last administration of Rochas Okorocha are already being rebuilt in the last three Months.

The Director, Media and Publicity of the organization, Chief Fidel Onyeneke made the position of the group known when he addressed newsmen in Owerri at a pre Annual General Meeting (AGM) conference of the organization, Friday.

Chief Onyeneke, a former Imo NUJ Chairman maintained that the collective labour of the Imo electorate in electing Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON, is not in vain.

” Olu Owerri notes with joy, the restoration of the confidence of the people of Imo State to their Government and consistent enthronement of fiscal discipline in governance. Today, in just one hundred days, Imo State Government has blocked all loopholes and boosted the monthly Internally Generated Revenue, IGR from the shameful and fraudulent one hundred and fifty million to over six hundred million. Imo now fully operates Treasury Single Account, TSA which eliminates corruption.

“The Governor has also reactivated the Public Procurement and Price Intelligence Agency which was non existent in the last eight years, giving room for the plundering of billions of naira through fictitious contracts.

“The public water scheme has been revitalized and monthly environmental sanitation restored with modern refuse disposal vans and other equipments.

“Before 29th May 2019 when the new government was sworn in, pensioners were owed about six years arrears of pensions, we are happy that they have now been verified by the government in line with their agreement with the new administration to check the corruption that characterized pension administration in the last Okorocha administration, ready for payment to the senior citizens.

“Olu Owerri is further delighted with the comprehensive redesigning of the substandard roads built in the Owerri metropolis by the former administration and award of contract for the construction of twelve (12) important roads, including the 17km Naze – Nekede – Ihiagwa – Obinze road, Word Bank road, MCC – Toronto road, Old road Orlu and many others. This is in addition to over 300kms of rural roads under RAMP, flagged off for construction in partnership with World Band, as well as the over N13b Ideato erosion control project which will restore the environment of the erosion threatened residents.

“We further commend the new administration for the total renovation of the Dan Anyiam Stadium as well as the Hand Ball Stadium”.

Chief Onyeneke assured of the continued support of members of the organization and called on all hands to be on deck as the ruins in the State are being deliberately and consciously rebuilt by the Ihedioha administration.

Imo Amalgamation: Ihedioha Met Expectations in 100 Days

The Amalgamation of Imo Professional Bodies and Association also rated the Imo Governor high in his first 100 days in office, saying the steps so far taken by the Governor are signs of the return of good governance.

In a release in Owerri, the Director Media of the Amalgamation, Chief Martin Opara while making the position of the group known, commended the new administration for the award of contracts for construction of twelve important roads in the State and re-establishment of strong institutions of the state that guide transparency in governance and promote ease of doing business, such as the Public Procurement and Price Intelligence Unit.

The Amalgamation further commended Governor Ihedioha for payment of counterpart fund for the construction of over 300klm of rural roads, in partnership with World Bank as well as the much needed Ideato erosion site which is now receiving practical attention.

Chief Opara, on behalf of the Amalgamation, pledged the collaboration of Imo Professionals and sociocultural/ non governmental organizations in the rebuilding process.

It would be recalled that Imo Professional Bodies and Associations had come into an amalgamation to enthrone good governance in Imo State, with bodies such as the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nigerian Medical Association, Association of Imo Indigenous Town Unions, the Clergy, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Independent Newspapers Publishers Association (INPA), the Academia, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) as well as the three zonal Sociocultural organizations, namely Orluzurumee, Olu Owerrin and Olu Okigwe.
