Tension In Imo,Guber Election Tribunal Delivers Judgement Sept 21

The stage is set and the dice is cast as political tension mounts in Imo State as the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal delivers judgement on a matter brought before it by contending parties on the outcome of the governorship election held in the State on March 9, 2029.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had declared the PDP candidate, Hon.Emeka Ihedioha winner of the polls.

But candidates of the Action Alliance, AA, Uche Nwosu, the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, and the All Progressive Congress,APC, Senator Hope Uzodinma, in that order are either seeking cancellation of the Polls or a re run for various reasons.

The PDP had expressed optimism and hope on the outcome of the ruling saying it has nothing to worry.

State Publicity Secretary of the party, Damina Opara, had told newsmen last week that the party is confident of victory.

“We are confident of victory. We are very upbeat. No Tribunal will cancel the peoples victory. PDP clearly won the election. Emeka Ihedioha was and is still the peoples choice. We won the election in almost the Local Government Areas in the State.

“The Petitioners should give peace a chance in Imo State.for us, we believe that Imo should be allowed to move forward. This distraction is not worth it. Ihedioha will again at the Tribunal” he said

The petitioners had sought different prayer from the Tribunal.
