Abia: Tribunal Dismisses Otti’s Petition,Rules In Gov Ikpeazu’s Favour

The petition filed by the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA governorship candidate in the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti challenging the declaration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP by INEC as winner of the election and duly elected Governor of the State, has been dismissed by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia.

Justice Lekan Ogumoye who read the uniamous judgement of the tribunal, dismissed all of Mr.Otti’s prayers.

Otti had challenged the victory of Governor Ikpeazu citing irregularities in 15 of 17 Local Government Areas in the State.

The tribunal among other things ruled that the petitioners could not prove the allegations of non compliance with the Electoral Act it made against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

It also dismissed the petition for lack of merit.
