Aggrieved members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA who had dumped the party after its controversial primaries in December 2018 have been fully assimilated into the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State.
It would be recalled that some APGA members and chieftains including some governorship aspirants had quit the cock party and formed the New APGA.
They aligned with the PDP and played some roles during the 2019 governorship election which led to the victory of Emeka Ihedioha as Governor of Imo State.
After the victory at the polls, some of the decampees have been operating on the periphery with the PDP.
The party however on Friday directed it’s footsoldiers at the wards and local governments to fully assimilate the APGA members.
In a statement signed by Damian Opara, Publicity Secretary of the party, it directed “the immediate assimilation and integration into the mainstream of the party of members of the New APGA in the State, who had defected to the PDP prior to the 2019 general elections
” The Party directs further that all ward and Local Government Chairmen must without further delay register, and issue the n-APGA entrants with membership cards to officially conform their allegiance to their new party and give them their rights, as bonafide members of PDP, to vote and be voted for in subsequent internal party elections, especially the upcoming Councillorship and chairmanship primary elections
