- Former Governor Okorocha and Senator Araraume were ersthwile political foes ahead of the 2019 governorship election
The political realignment of erstwhile political foes, former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha and governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, has raised eyebrows within political circles in the State.
Photos surfaced online showing the former Governor and the Senator, in a bike ride together at Okorocha’s country home in Ogboko in Ideato North local government area.
Details of the meeting were not made public but sources said it was “in continuation of exploratory talks between the duo on the political situation in the State”
Recall that Okorocha, Araraume and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and some “opposition forces” had met in Abuja last year.
The meeting was similar to that held before the 2015 governorship election where Senator Araraume had rolled out drums of support for Okorocha second term re election
The latter was elected for a second term in 2015 and in 2019 backed his son in law, Uche Nwosu, as his successor, in a governorship contest Araraume was governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.
