OYA Election: Ngoforo Declares For President

By Emma Uzoaru

Real estate mogul, Hon. Franklin Ngoforo, has expressed his desire to contest for the office of president of the apex youth socio-cultural group in the twelve local government areas of Orlu zone, Orluzurumee Youth Assembly.

The Ideato-born renowned philanthropist made his intention known during a chat with newsmen in Orlu on Sunday.

He said his decision to aspire to lead the pan-Orlu youth umbrella is borne out of his deep passion to elevate the status of every young person in the zone and ensure that political officeholders deliver on their manifestoes.

According to him, “A lot of things have been left undone in Orlu zone and I am concerned about them. Through the strength of our solidarity and depth of our insight, I will lead Orluzurumee Youth Assembly to get them done. We shall build a platform that every Orlu youth can depend on. We shall redirect the energies of our youths towards productive ends, and we shall ensure that our leaders are held accountable. We shall synergize with every relevant authority and agency to bring transformation to our land, so that our youths can live their dreams right here,” he vowed.

The election of a new executive of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly which has been slated for late February is the third pronounced event happening within the group in the last three months after the group had suspended the plan to recall Chief Rochas Okorocha from the Senate.

The Corporate Affairs Commission had in late last year registered the group and issued them with a certificate of incorporation, and the group on January 5, 2020 proceeded to unveil their National Secretariat in an auspicious ceremony which was attended by leaders of note within Imo state and across the South East.

Public interest in the group has soared and the forthcoming election is expected to be very competitive. Though there are so many underground moves and consultations going on, Hon. Ngoforo is the first to make his intention public. His declaration is therefore expected to smoke out others who may wish to engage him in a contest over the coveted seat.
