Despite the emergence of Hope Uzodinma as Governor of Imo State and the defection of members of the opposition in the Imo Assembly to the All Progressive Congress, APC, there are still noticeable cracks in the party.

Many had expected one of the factions laying claim to be the authentic leadership of the party in the State to have ebbed away in the spirit of reconciliation and new found victory.

The faction is led by Chima Nwafor and aided by former Governor Rochas Okorocha.

A caretaker committee led by Marcel Nlemigbo and installed by Uzodinma before his emergence as Governor enjoys the recognition of the National Working Committee, NWC of the party.

Fresh trouble reared its head again when the National Vice Chairman (outh East) Emma Eneukwu, directed Nlemigbo led caretaker executive to compile names of fresh decampees to the party and forward to it.

This sparked an unexpected reaction from the Nwafor faction who said in a statement that “there is no caretaker committee in Imo APC”

The statement signed by FCC Jones Onwusoanya said Nlemigbo is one of the leaders of the party and not the State Chairman of the APC.

Part of the statement reads “The All Progressives Congress is a Rule of Law abiding, progressive, masses based and disciplined political Party and cannot lend itself to actions, communications and inactions that may portray the Party as operating in contravention of its own founding ideologies.

“Therefore, the assertion by the National Vice-chairman, Southeast zone of our Party is erroneous, to the extent that there is no subsisting leadership structure of APC in Imo State. It is understood that he may not have been abreast of the subsisting judicial position on the matter. The authentic and legitimately recognized chairman of the Party in Imo State is Hon. Daniel Madueke Nwafor and all the organs of the Party in the State are duly constituted in accordance with the laws and guidelines of our Party and in line with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.

“Chief Marcelinus Nlemigbo is therefore one of the valued leaders of the Party in the State, but not the State Chairman of the Party, as there is no Caretaker Committee in the State known to law, hence, the referenced letter should be ignored by all members of our Party and the general public
