Drums of war are beating again in the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Imo State.

The bone of contention is Okigwe North Reps re run which has again swelled the discord between the court recognised party leadership led Mr.John Iwuala, and the party governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.

Araraume is not on the same page with the Iwuala led Caretaker committee and is known to be backing Henry Okafor, a splinter group in the party which also claims to be leadership of APGA in the State.

The Senator has been accused of anti party activity by the Iwuala led Caretaker committee for allegedly backing the All Progressive Congress, APC House of Reps candidate in Okigwe North Rerun, Mariam Onuoha.

This had attracted the rage of Iwuala led State Exco, which threatened to sack the Senator from the party for indulging in anti party activities.

A statement signed by John Iwuala, Caretaker Chairman of the party, said the party is not in cahoots with the Senator in his alleged support for the APC candidate.

” That we are not party to the statement of the governorship candidate of our party in the State, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, to the effect that he allegedly directed his supporters to campaign and support the candidate of another political party in the forthcoming Okigwe North Rerun”

Iwuala insisted that “APGA Imo State has a candidate in Okigwe North Rerun tentatively fixed on January 25th, 2020 by INEC in the person of Engr.Lady Uchenna Onyeiwu-Ubah as the candidate of the party for the re run”

Senator Araraume is yet to react to Mr.Iwuala’s claims. He had dumped the APC before the 2019 governorship election and joined APGA where in controversial circumstances he emerged the governorship candidate of the party.
