Fresh fireworks emanated from Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and the immediate past Governor, Hon.Emeka Ihedioha, at the weekend, over the Supreme Court verdict that declared Uzodinma Governor of Imo State on January 14, 2020.
Uzodinma had told State House correspondents in Abuja Friday after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, that he is not losing sleep over review of the judgement instituted by Ihedioha.
APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole was also in attendance at the meeting, the same day leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP led by its National Chairman, Uche Secondus, stormed the U.K and U.S Embassies to register their displeasure on the judgement.
Uzodinma said” I m not disturbed by the PDP’s move to seek a review of the judgement. I am not concerned because I believe they are going back to the Supreme Court based on falsehood because the number of accredited votes outside the excluded votes is what they are talking about.
He continued “We went to Court with an issue of exclusion;we didn’t go to Court complaining about election malpractices, violence and all that. So, it is a peculiar case..
“But, If you are going to court, you must go to court to discuss or talk about the number of accredited votes including the excluded polling units. If you compute the number of accredited votes inclusive of the excluded voters, the figures are correct
But Ihedioha who has shown doggedness in retrieving his mandate on the guise that the Supreme Court Judgement that removed him from office as Governor was defective, fired salvos at Uzodinma for making spurious claims.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr.Chibuike Onyeukwu, he said Senator Uzodinma has an extent he knows about the Supreme Court Judgement.
“Firstly, we bear no grudge on his Statement that the Supreme Court can not review it’s January 14, 2020 judgement. That is the extent he knows, in order to sustain his deception and illegitimate government. Truth remains that he is quite convinced that his position is founded on clear illegitimacy. Hence, he is not expected to say anything different from what he feels will interest his very few supporters
He continued “Senator Uzodinma by claiming that time for election petition has elapsed to the gallery. He engaged in a failed ambush of the Supreme Court. The Court knows that Rt. Hon.Emeka Ihedioha has a very good cases as shown in the glaring facts of the matter and so does not require his lame opinion”
Ihedioha advised Governor Uzodinma to stop laying claims that he paid all outstanding salaries of Imo workers, stating that ” it is record that Rt Hon.Emeka Ihedioha restored the salaries of the entire workers in the service from 70 percent as well as pensions and they were paid and when due to Imo workers until the Supreme Court Judgement”
