True to our story on Sunday that some members of the House of Representatives from Imo State are set to decamp to the All Progressive Congress, APC, two federal lawmakers, Hon.Kingsley Uju, representing Oguta/Ohaji Egbema Federal Constituency, and Paschal Obi, representing Ideato North/South federal Constituency, have quit the Action Alliance, AA for the APC.
The defections is in line with a fruitful alliance between former Governor Rochas Okorocha and Governor Hope Uzodinma.
The duo had closed ranks after the Supreme Court declared Uzodinma as Governor of Imo State.
The defection of Hon.Uju and Hon. Paschal Obi, was contained in a letter read on the floor of the House by the Speaker,Hon.Femi Gbajabiamila.
Both Okorocha and Uzodinma were present at the floor of the House to witness the defection of the two members during plenary on Thursday
Attempts by the House minority leader, Ndudi Elumelu, to challenge the defection of the two House members was rejected by the Speaker.
Elumelu citing section 68 of the 1999 Constitution as amended called for the seats of the lawmakers to be declared vacant.
This newspaper had exclusively reported that some members of the House of Representatives from the State including those of PDP extraction are making plans to defect to the APC.
Recently, nine members of the State House of Assembly of the PDP including the Speaker decamped to the APC.
