Tension As Supreme Court Hears Review Petition On Imo Guber Feb 18

There is tension in the political landscape in Imo State as the Supreme Court has fixed Feb 18, 2019 to hear a review Petition filed by the PDP and Emeka Ihedioha.

The review comes after the Supreme Court sacked Bayelsa State Governor elect, David Lyon citing forgery in the educational certificate filed by Mr.Lyon’s Deputy.

Emeka Ihedioha and the PDP are seeking for review of the matter on the grounds that Senator Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress, APC misled the Supreme Court in its judgement.

The Apex court had on January 14, 2020 removed Ihedioha as Governor and declared Hope Uzodinma as Governor.

The court added votes from 388 polling units for Uzodinma which was excluded by INEC.

In its review Petition, Ihedioha and PDP cited flaws and errors in the results from the 388 polling units, appealing to the Apex court to review and reverse it’s judgement on grounds of nullity.

The sack of Ihedioha has led to widespread protests in Owerri and other parts of the country including abroad.
