Governance seems to be on a low ebb in Imo State, as the citizenry wait on the Supreme Court to review an application filed by Emeka Ihedioha, seeking the apex court to reverse it’s judgement of January 14 which sacked him as Governor and replaced him with Hope Uzodinma of the APC.

Our reporters gathered that supporters of both Uzodinma and Ihedioha have relocated to Abuja to witness the review application which comes up on February 18 at the Supreme Court

A day to to the review, former local government chairmen and councillors elected in 2018 took to the streets in Owerri to show solidarity to Governor Hope Uzodinma.

Similar protests also took place in Abuja where some APC supporters are drumming support for the Governor.

For a month, the PDP and supporters of Ihedioha have held several protests in Owerri, Abuja and other parts of the country calling on the Supreme to review and reverse the judgement of January 14.

Last week, Concerned Citizens of the State led by ace entertainer, Charly Boy Oputa, led a mammoth crowd of protesters in Owerri.

Charly Boy, whose father, Late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa was a Supreme Court Judge, said his father told him that the apex court can make mistakes.

Some citizens of the State have expressed concern on the lingering political and legal wranglings on the governorship of the State which they said is stifling the wheel of governance in the State.

Mr. Chuks Onwudiwe, a trader in Owerri noted that governance has not moved on a full throttle in the State because of ongoing legal skirmishes after the Supreme Court judgement on Imo governorship.

Mrs.Nkechi Osuagwu called for speedy resolution of the matter.

“The Supreme Court should do the right thing. They must take cognisance of the fact that we voted to have a Governor like other States did. So it’s unfortunate in Imo State, we are yet to have stability because who governs or who should not govern the State has not been resolved.Imo is at cross roads.
