There may be fire on the mountain or cracks on the wall, as the patience of associates and hundreds of followers of former Governor Rochas Okorocha may be running out, as Governor Hope Uzodinma continues to reward his loyalists with key and strategic positions in his administration.
Of the over 20 appointments made by the Governor, none came forth from the camp of Rochas Okorocha populary called Rescue Mission.
Okorocha had aligned with Governor Uzodinma after the latter was declared Imo State Governor by the Supreme Court, sacking Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP.
Reports in the media claimed that Uzodinma and Okorocha had struck a deal on how to share the spoils of office after the latter was pronounced Governor by the Supreme Court.
Part of the deal was the reinstatement of sacked local government chairmen elected during Okorocha’s reign. That never happened as Uzodinma rather directed Directors of Administration and General Services, DAGS to run the 27 local government councils.
Before now, this newspaper observed that despite the seeming unity between Okorocha and Uzodinma’s camps, there is love lost.
Some of Okorocha’s loyalists had complained of tacit segregation by Uzodinma’s men hiding under the umbrella of APC family.
“On the surface we are together. Beneath that surface it is not so. We were united to remove and celebrate the sack of Ihedioha and the PDP. After that, the scenario now is like to your tenth o Israel. However, like they say, we are hopeful” said an Okorocha ally, a former aide of the ex governor who spoke to INNONEWS on condition of anonymity
It remains unclear if Uzodinma will compensate some of Okorocha’s men with Commissioner appointments, a situation a top source close to the Governor said, may be impossible considering Uzodinma’s disposition to narrow down the number of Ministries and appoint only those who will drive his vision for the State.
Recall that Uzodinma and Okorocha had entangled in a fierce battle for the governorship ticket of the All Progressive Congress, APC when the latter was Governor of Imo State.
