Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and supporters of ousted Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, under the aegis of Imo concerned Citizens engaged in another round of protests in Owerri on Wednesday.
The tumultuous crowd were all clad in black. They were addressed by several speakers including ace entertainer, Charley Boy Oputa who called on the Supreme Court for reversal of the judgement.
Charly Boy led the protesters who took off from the Ugwu Ekwema Civic Centre along Egbu Road marched to Wethedral junction where he addressed the people
The protests in Owerri came after Governor Hope Uzodinma had issued a stern warning that he will not henceforth tolerate such protests in the State capital any more.
Also, PDP supporters also reportedly took their protests to the European Union, EU Commission in Abuja.
The protests are part of measures adopted by Ihedioha’s supporters to press home their demand that the Supreme Court should review it’s judgement of January 14, 2019.
The apex court had sacked Ihedioha as Imo State Governor and declared Senator Hope Uzodinma as duly elected Governor of the State.
The PDP and Ihedioha faulted the judgement alleging that the beneficiary of the judgement, Senator Uzodinma misled the Supreme Court.
Last week, Ihedioha’s lawyers approached the Supreme Court to officially seek for review and reversal of the judgement on the grounds that it was ” a nullity”
