A university don and social crusader, Prof. Protus Nathan Uzorma, has called on the agents of government and members of the society to join hands and ensure a safe and secured society where peace and justice will reign.
The prolific writer made the call recently when he marked his birthday with a book launch which he co-authored with Mr. Stanley Onwuezuoke Okoroji.
The book is tiltled’: Nigerian Police and Crime Management: Panacea to National Peace and Security.
In his remark, Prof. Protus decried the sorry state of the nation’s security which he blamed on the presidency and the service chiefs noting that the book was written to enlighten the people on the need to be security conscious.
The chairman of the occasion, Prof Francis Dike (SAN), extolled Prof. Protus’ nature of sharing with the poor during his birthday, urged him to continue in his good gesture.
He noted that the book written by Prof and his colleague met the required criterial of instilling discipline in the readers.
The senior advocate described Prof Protus as a professor of international standard who is a visiting professor of universities including those in England.
The Key note speaker and former governor of Imo state, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, described Prof Protus as a fearless intellectual giant.
While speaking on the topic :Chasing the Lion: Conversion on Security, the former governor said that Nigeria is flat on its face with struggle in every sector while harping on the need for adequate funding of the Nigerian Police Force and a complete over haul of the service chiefs.
Contributing, a Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Folusho Adebanjo, who was singled out in the content of the book for his elegant behaviour while in service said he did not know that he was being watched while doing his job in Imo.
DIG Adebanjo thanked Prof Uzorma for a job well done and called for a strong relationship between the state governor and the Police as a way of strengthening security.
The event was attended by some high networth individuals including Chief Ikedi Ohakim former Governor of Imo state, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Barr. Eze Duruiheoma SAN, former chairman National Population Commission, Prof. George Obiozor former Ambassador of Nigeria to United states of America, HRM, Eze Cletus Illumoanya chairman Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers, Chief Emeka Diwe President General southeast Town union, so many traditional rulers and captains of industry and many Nollywood actors and actresses. It featured presentation of gift items by the celebrant to over 250 widows and pensioners as well as award presentations by members of the Nollywood, the National Association of Imo State Students, NAISS to mention but a few.
