Deal Gone Sour, As Fresh Turbulence May Hit Imo APC

Like Coronavirus, the wind of turbulence appears to be heading towards the path of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State.

Despite the belief that all is well in the party with the verdict of the Supreme Court which declared Senator Hope Uzodinma as Governor of the State, such assumption may just be a fluke, a fairly tale, considering the recent petition by Daniel Nwafor, factional Chairman of the APC in Imo State, to the National Working Committee, NWC of the party requesting for recognition, as the authentic State executives of the party.

Nwafor reminded the NWC of the Supreme Court judgement which declared him as the authentic State Chairman of the party.

His faction of the state executive which trickles down to the wards, was instituted by Rochas Okorocha when the latter was Governor of Imo State, as a counter to Marcellinus Nlemigbo led Caretaker Commitee instituted by Senator Uzodinma, who was then governorship candidate of the party.

The NWC led by Adams Oshiomole had backed Nlemigbo as authentic State Exco at that time, ostensibly to lend support to Uzodinma .

With Nwafor’s latest petition, analysts contend that it may be the first political “bazooka” from Okorocha’s camp which has been sidelined by Uzodinma, who seems to be shutting out Okorocha’s men from his cabinet.

Newspaper reports had claimed that Uzodinma, Okorocha and Senator Araraume had entered into “a deal” after the Supreme Court verdict which made Uzodinma Governor and sacked Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP.

A local tabloid in Owerri had claimed that the former Governor requested for 30 percent slot in Uzodinma’s government.

This newspaper has not been able to verify the existence and contents of such “deal” but could rather say there was a “mutual agreement” between the duo after the Supreme Court victory.

It would be recalled that Okorocha had barely few days Uzodinma was proclaimed Governor of Imo State by the Supreme Court, appealed to the Governor to acomodate his “boys” in his administration.

Uzodinma never did as he rewarded intoto his core loyalists in CAMP HOPE with appointments

Sources told this newspaper on Monday that the Okorocha camp may be bidding it’s time as they watch unfolding developments.

A local tabloid in Owerri sympathetic to the cause of the Okorocha group, however reported on Monday that Okorocha’s son in law, Uche Nwosu hosted members of the ” Rescue Mission family” weekend and expressed “satisfaction” with Uzodinma’s latest appointments and pledged support.

“Deals have gone sour. We await fireworks” said Chris Okebata, a chieftain of the APC in
