After months of foot dragging, political horse trading, alignments and realignments, the Imo State House has elected a new Deputy Speaker
Hon.Amara Iwuanyanwu, member representing Nwangele State Constituency emerged Deputy Speaker, replacing Hon.Okey Onyekanma of Mbaitoli State Constituency who had quit the position.
Member represent Ikeduru State Constituency, Uche Ogbuagu, was returned Majority Leader of the Assembly.
The new Deputy Speaker was returned unopposed after his nomination on the floor of the House by Hon.Ngozi Obiefule and seconded by member representing Ideato South State Constituency, Hon.Johnson Iheonukara Duru.
Amara had decamped from the All Progressive Grand Alliance,APGA to the Peoples Democratic party, PDP and later to the All Progressive Congress, APC alongside the Speaker of the House, Chiji Collins, and others, when the Supreme Court sacked Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP as Governor and replaced him with Senator Hope Uzodinma of the APC.
