Covid 19 Scare In Imo: 41 Guests, Workers Held In A Hotel

There is anxiety in Owerri, Imo State capital, as 41 guests and workers of a hotel have been quarantined by the Imo State Government following a suspected case of Coronavirus.

The hotel, identified as Fancy Hotel, situated at Road 7, Umuguma, Housing Estate, World Bank, Owerri, was said to have been locked down by security agencies for investigations by medical experts, The Nation reports.

The newspaper quoted a guest at the hotel to have said that they were locked up since 1:00am without explanation and were informed that they would remain in the hotel for two weeks before they would be released.

” They told the occupants of the hotel that we will remain in the hotel for 14 days. Which I think is quarantine. As I m talking to you, I can’t say for sure why we are being locked in

The Nation also quoted Imo State Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, to have said that the hotel was closed down to serve as deterrence to others who failed to obey the order that hand sanitizers be provided and temperatures of guests be monitored before check in.
