As members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP lick their wounds over it’s loss of Imo governorship seat, a former factional chairman of the party in the State, Chief Chuks Ajaelu (PHF), has stressed the need for the party to put it’s house in order by heading back to the drawing board.
Ajaelu who spoke after the Supreme Court reaffirmed the ouster of Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP as Governor of Imo State and replaced him with Senator Hope Uzodinma of the APC, said there is still hope for the party in the State in the future despite it’s present predicament and ordeal.
The South East Zonal Co ordinator of National PDP Professional and Business Group, NPPBG, advised party members not be downcast or lose hope in the party and resist the temptation of jumping into another party, particularly at a time the PDP in the State is presently undergoing turbulence.
He said “They should not be swayed into jumping ship at this time the party is bleeding profusely.
“They should see this unfortunate development as a mere temporary setback
“All we need to do now, is to put our structures in place which will ensure total repositioning and overhauling of the party for a new beginning in the party.
Chief Ajaelu advised party members to shun the old order, embrace a new vision and adopt a new style of politicking with renewed vigour and determination to work for the good of the party.
Ajaelu stated “They should embrace new modern ways of politicking that will do the party a lot of good and contribute in placing it on a higher pedestal for the 2023 general election.
Ajaelu, respected for his political sagacity and acumen, encouraged party stakeholders to see the forthcoming Congress as an avenue to elect those who posses the capacity to run the affairs of the party at all levels and discharge responsibilities assigned to them creditably.
He however kicked against Imposition of party officials during the congresses, stating that the exercise should not be an all comers affair.
He noted that the imposition of party officials and candidates, had opened a floodgate of moles and saboteurs into the party who owe to their allegiance to their paymasters in other political parties.
On his interest to vie for State chairman of the party, he said ” I m consulting with stakeholders of our party.
” I have what it takes to lead our dear party at this difficult and trying period. Let us do things differently this time. Let us install a purposeful leadership that will develop a clear roadmap that will bring our members together.
“Indeed, I see a bright future for our party. All hope is not lost.
He called for an open debate for those seeking to be Chairman of the party in the State, saying this will provide ample opportunity for all contestants to present their roadmap and manifesto for the growth of the party.
