Senator Samuel Anyanwu has advised Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, to take proactive measures and steps to protect the people of Imo state from the dreaded coronavirus.

Imo State is yet to witness a case of the coronavirus though six cases have been identified in Lagos and Ekiti States by the Federal Government.

The Federal Government had on Wednesday imposed travel ban on 13 countries as part of measures of checkmating the spread of the virus.

Speaking to INNONEWS, Senator Anyanwu said the Governor should do all he can to protect the people of the State from the virus by taking preventive measures and steps.

Reacting to reports the he drummed support for Governor Uzodinma which indicates his possible move to the APC, Senator Anyanwu said he only advised the Governor to work for the people of the State .

Senator Anyanwu said he advised Governor Uzodinma as a stakeholder in the State, on the need to develop Imo State and ensure the citizens enjoy the dividends of democracy.

He stated that his advise to the Governor does not entail he has relquinshed his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as erroneously interpreted by mischief makers.

The Senator who represented Owerri zone in the Senate from 2015- 2019 and vied for Imo governorship on the platform of the PDP, said he has no intention whatsoever to leave the PDP.

He said “ That I am a member of the PDP does not mean I cannot advise the State Governor, who is of the APC. That is childish and immaterial. As a former Senator, an illustrious son of Imo State, I am entitled to my views and there is nothing wrong if I advise the Governor of my State on what I consider the best for the people of the State, party or no part”
