LGA Interim Chairmen: Again, Uzodinma Rewards Loyalists, Shuts Out Allies

  • Ex Governor, Okorocha Heads To Court To Halt Inquest On Contracts During His Reign

Governor Hope Uzodinma has again rewarded his loyalists who stood with him during his gruelling battle to emerge Governor of Imo State.

The latest move is the appointment of 27 Interim Management Chairmen for the local governments on Thursday.

The Imo State House of Assembly had given Uzodinma the nod to appoint Interim Management Committees for the 27 LGAs.

A source told this newspaper that the Interim LGA Chairmen were heads of various outlets of his CAMP HOPE Political structure.

Uzodinma had also appointed Commissioners, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants, all of them his core loyalists.

This has further reinforced fears of a crack on the wall on his rumoured alliance with former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha after the Supreme Court had sacked Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP.

Okorocha had reportedly requested Gov. Uzodinma to acomodate “his boys” in the formation of his administration.

A local tabloid claimed he requested for 30 percent of the appointees , which was turned down by the Governor.

This newspaper had reported in the past, that a crack exists in the relationship between Uzodinma and Okorocha, following complaints allegedly made by the latter to the APC national leadership on Uzodinma’s refusal to carry his (Okorocha’s) men along.

Recall that Local Government Chairmen elected during Okorocha’s reign had called on Uzodinma for their reinstatement.

They are in court challenging their sack by the outgone administration of Emeka Ihedioha.

Okorocha is also reported to have gone to court to challenge the ongoing Inquest on Award of Contracts during his regime.

Shocking and startling revelations have been made at the Inquest, with officials of the past government, revealing how the former Governor awarded billions of naria in contracts without resort to Due process.

The Inquest was set up by the sacked Governor Ihedioha but retained by Gov Uzodinma, a situation which is said not be going down well with the ex Governor.
