In a renewed bid to keep Owerri and environs clean, in the face of rampaging Covid 19 pandemic, the Imo State government, has taken another bold step, to ensure the State capital, Owerri and it’s environs, are free from filth and heaps of refuse.
The State government, which has taken proactive steps to ensure the State remains clean through monthly sanitation exercises, and prompt evacuation of refuse across the city, have decided to engage the citizens of the State, in the task of keeping Owerri and the entire State clean.
It has appealed to citizens of the State to report sightings of waste anywhere they see it
Based on the foregoing, It released phone numbers or hot lines which members of the public could call for immediate evacuation of waste.

In a related development,
residents of New Haven, within New Stadium Owerri, have expressed immense gratitude to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, for evacuating a two years old waste/refuse heap at the area.
The refuse heap had been a permanent eyesore, which posed enviromental and health challenges to the residents and in most cases resulted to flooding of the area whenever there is a downpour.
The downpour has led to flooding of the area, making it unpassable for motorists and commuters.
A resident of the area who conveyed the gratitude of other residents of the area over the development, but spoke on condition of anonymity, gave kudos to Governor Uzodinma for remembering the area, by removing the refuse dump which had been a nightmare to the residents because of its health hazards.
He congratulated Governor Uzodinma on his victory at the Supreme Court, assuring them of their support to his Administration.
The refuse heap at New Haven, Stadium lane, had a permanent eyesore, causing enviromental hazards to residents of the area for many years.
It was neglected by past administrations until Governor Uzodinma intervened.
