FMC Reveals Details Of Covid 19 Index Case In Imo

The Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Owerri, has revealed that the confirmed index case of Covid 19 in the State is receiving treatment at it’s isolation Centre.

Mrs.Jacinta Achonu, spokesperson of the Centre, Sunday said the patient is about 45 years old.

“Yes, I can confirm to you that a COVID-19 patient of about 45 years was brought to the isolation center of FMC, Owerri about 2:30 pm, and a team of medical experts is managing the situation,” she said.

She declined to reveal the identity of the patient.

She said only the Nigerian Center for Disease Control had the power to do so.

“I don’t know the identity of the patient but we have been waiting for his arrival and he finally arrived on Saturday,” Achonu said.

The NCDC on Saturday announced that Imo State has recorded an index case of the COVID-19 disease bringing the national toll of the infection to 1,182.
