Ebonyi State Government says  over one hundred and nineteen,119, suspected cases of COVID-19 who were admitted in the state have all tested negative.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Umezurike Daniel  disclosed this at
a joint press briefing  with the Hon Commissioner for information, Barr. Uchenna Orji at the Exco chambers, Government House Abakaliki, 

Dr. Umezurike said a total of 199 suspected cases have been admitted at various times and all tested negative but were managed for various other ailments and discharged.

“We have received samples from all the South Eastern and South South regions of Nigeria.

“So far, we have tested 74 cases from Ebonyi State and all came out Negative. We have tested over 50 samples from other States but we don’t report their result.

“A total of 119 suspected cases have been admitted at various times and all tested negative to COVID-19 but they were managed for various other ailments and discharged” he stressed.

He stated that the State Government has constructed and equipped isolation/ treatment centres at Unity square to contain the virus.

He noted that the State has equipped the centre with Ventilators, Dialysis machines, Monitors, Suction machines, oxygen cylinders, regulators and concentrators.

According to him: “We have holding area in Virology centre of FETHA where suspected cases are admitted and tested.

” We have also selected 6 General Hospitals to serve as observation centers, two in each Senatorial zone in our response protocol”.

“So at present we supported by NCDC of the Federal Ministry of Health who provided tests kits for the test to be done in Virology Centre of Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital in Ebonyi state”. He said.
