N19.63Bn Probe: PDP, APC Imo Assembly Members May Clash Over Set Up Of Public Accounts Committee

There is an air of uncertainty in the State House of Assembly over the composition of the Public Accounts Committee.

The Committee is key to the probe of former Governor of Imo State, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who was accused by the APC led government of Hope Uzodinma of mismanaging N19.63 billion naira Local Government funds.

PDP Lawmakers in the State House of Assembly had in a petition to the Speaker, frowned at the composition of the Committee, raising fears that it may have a pre determined agenda.

The opposition lawmakers had in a leaked memo to the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon.Chiji Collins, strongly kicked against the error, pointing out that by the convention in Nigeria and worldwide, “the Headship of the public accounts Committee is reserved for the minority party”

The PDP had shrinked from the ruling party to the minority party in the State after the Supreme Court sacked Ihedioha as Governor of Imo State.

The Public Accounts Committee comprise of members of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the House. Members of the Committee remain unperturbed by vituperations of their colleagues in the opposition and looks good to in carrying out their investigation of the missing billions leveled against the sacked Ihedioha administration.

The APC members of the Public Accounts Committee are: Hon Chigozie Nwaneri, Hon Uche Ogbuagu, Hon Chyna Iwuanyanwu, Hon Michael Njoku, Hon Kennedy Ibe, Hon Arthur Egwim, Hon Emeka Nduka and Hon Kanayo Onyemechi.
