Imo Lawmaker Doles Out Palliatives To Journalists

Touched by challenges being faced by Journalists in executing their social responsibilities, during the coronavirus pandemic, Hon Okey Onyekanma, member representing Mbaitoli State Constituency in Imo House of Assembly has given relief materials to Journalists who hail from his Constituency.

Hon. Onyekanma gave out the palliatives at Nwaorieubi, the council area headquarters through Hon Beacon Duru, the Director General of Okey is Ok Campaign Organization witnessed by other senior members of the campaign organization.

Onyekanma described Journalists as an endangered species considering the nature of their Journalism profession. He stated that his compassion for the well being of members of his Constituency motivated him to spend millions of Naira to ensure that the less privileged within the 34 autonomous communities in his Constituency are adequately taen care of.

He appealed to media practitioners on the need to partner with his office and project the council area before the global community.

In his remarks, Mr. Chiebere Iwuoha, the National Chairman of Association of Mbaitoli Journalists, expressed gratitude to the PDP lawmaker, noting that he is the only law maker that has given succor to Journalists during the pandemic
