‘Prepare For 2024, Stop Crying Over Ihedioha’s Sack’, Group Tells Owerri Zone Leaders

* Emeka Ihedioha*

Political leaders in Owerri zone, one of the geo political zones in Imo state, have been advised to stop lamenting over the sack of Emeka Ihedioha as Governor of Imo State.

The Supreme Court had on January 14, 2020 removed Ihedioha as Governor and replaced him with Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Imo State consists of three geo political zones, Orlu, Owerri and Okigwe.

Ihedioha is from Owerri zone, while Uzodinma is from Orlu zone.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, the co- coordinator, New Order for Owerri zone, Mr. Chuks Uzosike said Owerri zone should “stop crying over split milk but rather rise, unite and put forward men and women of quality and capacity from the zone for the 2024 governorship contest”.

Mr. Uzosike said leaders of  Owerri zone “should “return to the drawing board, brainstorm and come up with ways of re- capturing the seat of government in Imo State in 2024.

He expressed regret that Owerri zone has remained “the weeping child of the Imo political family since the return of democracy in the country”

“It is regrettable that Orlu zone where Senator Hope Uzodinma comes from had produced GAchike Udenwa and Rochas Okorocha, as Governors of Imo State having collectively spent 16 years on the saddle of  governance of the State, it is pitiable that Owerri zone did collectively a meagre 29 months- Late Evan Enwerem’s 22 months and Ihedioha’s 7 months in office

“But we must stop weeping and begin preparations soonest, to ensure an Owerri son is elected Governor of Imo State in 2024. Zoning is gradually ebbing away as a determinant factor to elect Governor of Imo State despite the existence of a charter of equity. This is a new reality. We should stop crying over split milk. We should forget about the loss of the governorship via Ihedioha’s removal by the Supreme Court and his replacement by Senator Hope Uzodinma from Orlu zone.

His removal should rather serve as rallying ground for the people of the zone to begin now to prepare for 2024.

“There is no hope lost. We need to sit up, learn our mistakes and come together rather than  complain over Ihedioha’s sack
