‘Imo Loses N1.3bn To Pay Pensions, Benefits Of Ex Govs, Others’, Lawmaker Reveals

The Imo State House of Assembly has approved the scrapping of the pension and other privileges enjoyed by former Governors, former Deputy Governors and former Speakers of Imo State House of Assembly.

Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu, who presented the executive bill on the floor of the House, told newsmen that the bill will go a long way to save cost for the state.

According to him Imo State loses N1.3bn annually to offset these bills to offset the bills, a sum he said is humongous enough to pay salaries of workers in the State.

He said soon the people of Imo State will enjoy the benefits of the bill.

Uche Ogbuagu represents Ikeduru state constituency in Imo House of Assembly  extolled the Governor  Uzodinma for his passion in ridding the state of its administrative dirt, adding that it takes a man of his type to repeal a law that he stands to be a beneficiary.
