Another Imo PDP Exco Member Resigns

The massive wave of resignations hitting the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, in Imo State, has continued with the resignation of the State Assistant Financial Secretary, Hon.M.I Okedu.

The PDP in Imo State has been facing turbulence after the Supreme Court sacked Governor Emeka Ihedioha on January 14, 2020 and replaced him with Senator Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Since the judgement, some members and chieftains of the party had developed lukewarm attitude towards the party while a good number have even crossed over to the All Progressive Congress, APC.

More than seven members of the State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the PDP had decamped to the APC after the Supreme Court removed Ihedioha out of office.

The latest to resign his position from the State executive of the party, Mr.Okedu, is quitting barely a week the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr.Damian Opara had resigned his position.

State Chairman of the party, Charles Ezekwem had also resigned his position in January.

In his letter of resignation, Okedu said he decided to quit his position for personal reasons.

‘The reasons for my resignation were purely personal coupled with pressures from my immediate family and friends’ he wrote in his resignation letter.

He however thanked “in a special way Senator/Princess Arthur Nzeribe and the entire members of the PDP Oguta LGA for giving him the opportunity to serve our great party at the LG and State levels”
