The Covid 19 Prevention and Control Committee Taskforce in Imo State has revealed how it discovered 25 fresh cases in the State.
Residents of the State were jolted on Tuesday morning after the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, NCDC, announced on Monday night that Imo State recorded 25 new confirmed cases of Covid 19.
The shocking announcement came barely a week the Task Force had declared Imo State coronavirus free.
Giving an update on the new cases, Prof Maurice Iwu, who heads the State Covid 19 Prevention Committee in the State , said the new 25 cases were part of 90 suspected carriers of the virus which security agencies had intercepted some vehicles carrying some passengers across the state and who were subjected to tests.
According to a statement by Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the Governor, Oguwuike Nwachukwu, he quoted Prof Iwu to have claimed that out of the 25 confirmed persons with the virus, only one was destined for Owerri and is at the moment in one of the Isolation Centres, stressing that everyone must not discontinue the need to observe the NCDC protocols of Covid 19
“We are not out of the woods yet.” he said
This latest development is taking place barely few weeks the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma said of the six covid 19 patients in Imo State, three were discharged after testing positive at the State Isolation Centre.
