Imo Records 26 New Cases Of Covid 19, Group Kicks Over Low Compliance In Use Of Face Mask

The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, NCDC, Monday night listed 26 persons in Imo State with the Covid 19 virus.

This is as a group, Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC lamented low compliance level to the use of face masks in the State by Owerri residents

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, spokesman of the group, Fidelis Echendu, said a careful observation by the group recently, showed that the level of compliance on the use of face masks in the State has reduced.

He pointed out that non adherence to the use of face masks by Owerri residents began shortly after Governor Hope Uzodinma relaxed the lockdown in the State.

“After the lockdown was relaxed, the level of compliance on use of face masks was encouraging. 1 to 3 persons were putting on face masks but it is not so now. It’s now 1 to 15 persons. You can conduct an independent investigation to verify our claims

“Those who even have the face masks do not put it to cover their nose or mouth. They just hang it around their necks and move around with it.

“Covid 19 still exists. We must not relax the preventive measures to contain the virus.

” The State government or the task force on Covid 19 in the State should increase it’s awareness and sensitization programme.

“There should be strict adherence to these rules” he said.
