Fear has gripped some members of the Imo State House of Assembly and their aides after one of the lawmakers was confirmed to have been infected with the deadly coronavirus.
News had filtered into the state capital, Owerri,on Monday that one of the lawmakers had been infected with the virus sending panic and tension among friends, well wishers, associates and even hangers on close to the Assembly men.
The identity of the infected lawmaker is still shrouded in secrecy.
But confirmation of the speculation came on Tuesday when the Chairman of the Covid 19 task force, Prof Maurice Iwu, announced to newsmen that the House of Assembly has been shut down for two weeks because one of the lawmakers has been infected with the virus.
According to him, samples of all the lawmakers and their personal aides have been taken for testing in order to ascertain the actual number of people who may have come in contact with the infected lawmaker.
According to the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, NCDC, Imo State has 136 covid 19 confirmed cases.
