To cushion the negative effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic,Citizen Health Education And Development Initiative (CHEDI )in partnership with Aids Health Care Foundation (AHF) have distributed palliatives to over 120 Indigenes of Oboama Autonomous Community in Ezihitte Mbaise,Imo State.
The relief items packed in 120 50kgs sacks each contained 20kg rice, beans, garri, onions ,cartons of noodles with vegetable oil, face mask and sanitizers which were handed over to the beneficiaries immediately.
Presenting the items to the beneficiaries on Wednesday at Oborji Hall ,Umuekwere ,Chief Mrs. Selina Enyioha ,Director CHEDI ,an NGO with head office in Abuja said she applied to her partners in Los Angeles, America for Covid-19 palliative support for Oboama community and AHF approved the application.
She described the initiative as humanitarian effort to contain the ravaging hunger and alleviate the sufferings occasioned by the dreaded covid 19 scourge.
Enyioha who was represented by her staff Mrs Chioma Aguala and Christopher Chidiebere said that the gesture was informed by the excruciating hardship on the people especially, the under privileged in the populace.
The Director disclosed that CHEDI has branch offices in Aboh Mbaise, Nasarawa and Niger State ,even as she appreciated greatly the efforts of their partners ,saying the initiative was to put smile on the faces of the people .
Her words,”we are here to distribute palliative to 120 persons approved for Covid-19 emergency support program approved for Oboama community.”
In his remarks ,the Traditional Ruler of Oboama Autonomous Community ,HRH Eze Julius Amaefula, was full of praises for the donors , even as he enjoined the community to pray for all those who made it possible .
The custodian of culture and tradition in Oboama community called on his people to strictly adhere to words of experts and official instructions from health agencies as well as practicing adequate preventive measures already prescribed by them.
The beneficiaries Mr Justice Nzenwa and Mrs Gertrud Eyanma in their respective vote of thanks, thanked the donors for their generosity and care for them,assuring that they would put it in good use.
