The suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomole, as National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC by the Court of Appeal, Abuja, Tuesday, may have far reaching implications for the Imo state chapter of the party.

Oshiomole is one of the major political backbones of Governor Hope Uzodinma, having installed the Caretaker Committee led by Marcellinus Nlemigbo as the authentic leadership of the APC in Imo State.

Oshiomole seems to have been engulfed in a political inferno, which arose with his squabbles with Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Two factions have arisen since Oshiomole was suspended by the Court of Appeal.

Former Governor of Oyo State, and Deputy National Chairman (South), Abiola Ajimobi, was designated by the National Working Committee, NWC, to take over the functions of the National Chairman, but Chief Victor Giadom has pronounced himself the National Chairman of the party.

In his first moves as purported Chairman, Giadom seems to be on a mission to reverse certain actions carried out by Oshiomole. He cancelled the screening committee which disqualified Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, from participating in the party’s governorship primary and also announced the sack of Imo State born National Organizing Secretary, Barr Emmanuel Ibediro.

Ibediro is an ally of Governor Hope Uzodinma after he switched allegiance from Okorocha who had backed his election as National Organizing Secretary during the party’s National Convention.

Giadom said he sacked Ibediro in compliance with the judgment of the Federal High Court in suit NO FHC/ABJ/CS/733/2018 which removed him since September 24th

This development has raised concerns in the Imo state chapter of the party as the Daniel Nwafor led faction of the party backed by former Governor Rochas Okorocha, are hopeful that under Giadom’s leadership, the faction will be restored as the authentic state executives of the party.

Imo APC crisis has been embroiled in crisis prior to the 2019 governorship election in the State.

A faction loyal to then Governor Okorocha who were backing the governorship ambition of Okorocha’s son in law, Uche Nwosu, was sacked by Oshiomole, who installed the Nlemigbo led Caretaker Committee, to oil the aspiration of then governorship candidate of the party, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
